1 Que[e]rbau Lakeside Vienna – Seestadt aspern

…to everyone who’d like to live or is interested in Vienna’s First Queer Town House by QB in lakeside Vienna/Seestadt aspern

The only ticket to entry is being open to people with a queer lifestyle. Our communal apartment house is being planned and built to meet the requirements of queer people and plans to include and support old and young, singles and partners as well as all types of families – rainbow, patchwork, foster families…

…Que[e]r stands for everyone willing to define their own identity…qb-Logo

The Que[e]rbau-Town House aims to help singles, couples and small families overcome the problems facing them and to provide the benefits of mutual good neighbourliness… both building and infrastructure will be the result of their combined interests and requirements.

This queer co-housing project* aspires to urban quality and also to fulfilling the specific requirements of all lifestyles; this means that apartments can be planned and adapted to suit all individual lifestyles…

… Everyone to themselves and some things together…

Everyone living in the Town House is encouraged to contribute to our shared activities, to fill the house and its surroundings with life: seminar rooms, recreation rooms, wellness, roof-garden, café and more besides…

The Que[e]rbau-Town House**  won’t be isolated but will play an active and visible role in the innovative and progressive quarter of “seestadt aspern”, hopefully in close co-operation with other co-housing groups and other local inhabitants. The community intends to provide rooms for queer asylees.

In choosing the WBV-GPA project-developer model (subsidised rented apartments with purchase option), the Que[e]rbau-group combines the advantages of financial security and low living costs with joint decision-making. Everyone will be able to join in planning their respective apartment as well as the communal areas in and around the new Town House. The group’s own planner and the project developer will both be on hand with the necessary professional support.

*Co-housing groups can be made up of individual persons and groups (e.g. associations). To begin with, a group of interested parties should sketch out its aims and its planned communal areas, together with how these are to be used. The next phase is devoted to ascertaining the occupants‘ individual requirements as to apartment-size and specifications. A complete blue-print should then be drawn up, taking into account the full spectrum of individual and communal requirements.

**Que[e]rbau-Project: much time has been devoted, together with both the City of Vienna and the project developer, to finding a suitable site for our Town House. This phase has now been succesfully brought to a conclusion. Planning and building are scheduled from 2013 until early 2017.

2 Que[e]rbeet … where the wild roses grow…

The QB community housing planning has started in Wildgarten am Rosenhügel in 2017 and will be completed in 2022. With a new concept of communal planning: architecture and garden planning is generated as an inclusive and bottom-up development process by the future residents (more…)

3 Biber*land … beaver’s and others land…

At beaver’s land the ecological value comes first. Five wooden houses and 1000 m² of gardenland as well as future sensible technique like photovoltaic system for electricity generation and an air-water heat pump, the community project offers a lot of space and therefore need self organising sturctures to be set up by the future residents…The planning started in 2020 and the building will be completed by early 2023.
